Port of Crete and Athens

Going to Crete and Athens...Can anyone tell me about the ports and if there are things to do within walking distance including good restaurants/shopping? Thanks :)

Which port in Crete are you stopping at? (There are two.)

 

In Athens, the port is Piraeus, which is about a 25-minute drive by car into Athens itself. Are you wanting to go to Athens (easy by taxi or very inexpensively by metro) or stay in Piraeus?
