POLAR STAR in receivership.

Crew and ship are stranded in Las Palmas.

After hitting an underwater rock near Detaille island in the Antarctic peninsula, her outer hull was breached. Passengers were transfered to other ships and she limped back to Ushuaia.

It now seems her owners cannot pay the repair bill and the bank took over.

I was on that ship a few years ago. It would be a shame if she can't return to expedition cruising.

All crew have now left the ship. It sits on the dock unsupervised.
