Hike from Fria to Oia

I'm a little scared of heights. Is the hike close to the edge, and is there any type of wall?

 

Our ship's arrival in Santorini is 7am. Is it reasonable to think we could be in Fria by 9am and Oi by lunch time taking this hike?

We might do this hike too, the views look great. It looks like there is lots of room to walk, you aren't forced close to the edge. It's 12 Km each way without much change in elevation so it should take a little over 2 hours each way if you keep moving. Here's a link to a web site that gives some detail on the route:

This is great information. Thanks so much. We were thinking that after walking to Oia, and having lunch, we'd take the bus or a taxi to Red Beach to see it. We weren't expecting a day at the beach, but rather a visual experience. That link also has a description for a scenic walk near Red Beach. Thanks again.

We did this hike about two years ago, great hike, not scary at all. Took us about two and half hours depending where you start. We took the bus back, be careful on timing coming back we did this later in the day and the bus back filled up and we had to wait - no big deal for us since we where there for a week but some of the people that where on a cruise where very worried. Just get on the bus before four in the afternoon.

Anquilla, we are now thinking of cutting down the time by taking the local bus for 1.4 euros towards Oia at least as far as Imerovigli and maybe a bit further to the Aghios Antonios-Neos church. Here's a link that shows the great views from the church to Oia:
