As long as you have two picture IDs! Just kidding, no problem with using US$. In Costa Rica or Mexico try to have small bills as you may get change in local currency:), which is not so bad since it makes a great souvenir. Aruba no problem whatsoever with buying and receiving change in US$.

In Panama the local currency is the Balboa, don't let that take you by surprise since the Balboa really is the US$. All paper currency is US, the coinage will be a mixture of both. The coinage in Panama is the same shape and domination as US coins.

Most places if you are on a ship tour, or stay on the "tourist path" US $ are accepted. Some countries only want newer bills, and . . . first time I've encountered this . . .on world cruise we hit some countries where they really didn't want $1 US bills. I guess the devaluation of the US $ makes it harder for them to change into their local currency. They wanted $5 bills and there were guys with fistfulls of $1 bills at the gangway when we left asking guests to change them and give them $20 US bills instead. Interesting comment on how things change. Regards, Richard
