PSA: Oslo weekend subway closures Jun-Jul 2011

I just wanted to let everyone know that this summer the Oslo T-bane (subway) will have some very inconvenient closures on weekends.

 

Every Saturday and Sunday until 24 July, the T-bane will be closed between Stortinget and Majorstuen (a large part of the downtown track, including Nationaltheatret). This will not affect you if you will be in port on a weekday (Monday to Friday, including holidays).

There is a bus to replace the subway, but it is very inconvenient. My trip from Majorstuen to Nationaltheatret typically takes 3-4 minutes on the subway, but on the replacement bus it took 15 minutes! If you are in town on a weekend, consider alternate transportation such as trams.
