Western - which 2 ports?

Recommended Posts

We are thinking we will book excursions at only 2 of the 3 ports of call on our upcoming Western itinerary. (We have never been to any of these ports before)

Which 2 ports would you choose? Why?

Do you have any suggestions on which excursions are good/bad at your chosen ports?

Thank you!

It depends what types of excursions appeal to you.

I have heard wonderful things about the scuba diving in Cozumel, so that's what I'm most excited about.

Many if not most of the excursions in Falmouth involve a good deal of travel, so those don't appeal to me.

Labadee offers plenty to do without any excursion, but if you're looking to get away from the crowds, they offer some fun and reasonably priced options.

What are you looking for? Adventure? Relaxation? All you can eat and drink? Culture? Food?

We are a family of six - myself, husband and 4 kids - 18, 13, 12 & 10. Some of us are more up for the thrill and some more for relaxation. We are totally open to splitting up so everyone gets to do what they want.

Really want to find the excursions that are the biggest bang and done well. Totally open to individual operators (not RCI)

Definitely skip Jamaica. Labadee is their private island and has lovely, relaxing beaches but also a zip line and a roller coaster for the adventurous folks. You can do as little or as much as you want.

Cozumel I agree is great for the water and the snorkeling. Chankanaab is a gorgeous preserve with also dolphins to swim with if you want, or just to relax.

Definately want to do something there. Large variety of excursions or, if you are adventurous, rent a vehicle and tour the island on your own- stop where you want, etc.

Great stop with lots of activity.:D

In Labadee-

We booked the Dragon's tail rollercoster... two tickets (each kid 10 & 5 rode with an adult).

We also did the Arawak Water Park....fun but a little bit of work to climb on the floating obstacles, etc.

The beach was crowded and not all that great.

Got back on the ship about two hours before departure and found there wa no line for FlowRiders-- so we did that as much as we wanted while being able to look out over the beautiful scenery.

------------

Falmouth....

We love Jamaica and this port is going to be a real prize when fully completed. We took a tram tour around historic Falmouth for $10.00 buck per person, and it was very good. Made a five minute stop at a church and it took about 35 minutes total.

And then we went to shops at Rose Hall.

----------------------

Cozumel....

We went to Xel-ha and it was really a great place to take the kids for their first snorkeling. It was a lot ot travel-- really too much with ferry adn bus which limited our time there. We had read about it and knew what we wanted so made the most of it. Xcaret is a little closer and has many of the same type feature.

We went to Nachi Cocum in Cozumel and had one of the best beach days ever. If you want a relaxing beach day this is the place for you. You can find info on the "ports-Cozumel" section of this message board. We also have booked Hilton Rose Hall for a day pass...have not been there yet but the reviews have been good. Again, check the "ports-Jamaica" section.
