Do Princess charge for childrens clubs between 7 - 10pm

Help, we are new to Princess but have sailed with other lines previously. We 10pm are sailing on the Crown in July and I have just read on another website that evening activities 7pm to 1am are charged at $5 per hour. Our son will be 11 when we sail and on previous cruises activities until 10pm have not been charged with the $5 per hour kicking in from 10pm to 1am. Can anyone clarify as we are confused as I am sure I read that the Princess policy was charges after 10pm.

Thanks:rolleyes:

There is no charge between 7-10 pm.

From the Princess site:

* A $5 USD per child/hour group kidsitting charge is applicable from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. for youth passengers ages 3-12.

Thank you, I was convinced I had read it somewhere on the Princess site but you know how it is, when you are looking for something you can never find it!:)

You're welcome. I find that the search box on the Princess site works better than trying to navigate through to find what I want. I typed "children's programs" in the search box and went right to the pages with info on the kids club.

And you may find that the kids club opens at 6 pm instead of 7. It did on our Island Princess cruise in April. The hours in the Patter were the same as on the website, but the kids club information left in our cabin had slightly different (longer) hours. Not sure how many ships they are doing that on, or if it's a short term experiment, but it came in handy for us one night to be able to drop DS at 6:00 rather than waiting until 7.

Even on port days, the kidsitting is free (up until 10pm). You just need to sign up in advance for port day kidsitting and the post 10pm kidsitting. Just be aware that for the latter, kids over a certain age would not want to stay with the younger crowd (learned this from my 8-yr-old).

There will also be one or two kid dinners (sometimes on formal nights). You drop off your kids at the Horizon Court (on the side with the "private party" sign) and after the dinner, the counselors will escort the group back for the evening activities.

This is great news. DW and I wanted to do the Ghost Tour in Skagway, but we have DD & best friend, both 12. Minimum age for the tour is 16. DW and I are going to find out about this on day 1, do the tour if possible and then pick up the girls for the rest of the day in port afterwards. I sure hope it is true for us on the Sapphire next week...:D

When we were on our Alaskan cruise (2004 on the Sapphire), we realized that our then 7-yr-old wasn't into checking out Alaska or any scenery, so she stayed on the ship in the last three ports. We stayed closed to the ship, except for our one excursion in Skagway, which was booked thru the ship so no worries about missing the ship.
