Nassau in the afternoon?

We are scheduled to arrive in Nassau at noon and stay until late in the evening. I had looked into booking something independently with Blue Lagoon, but according to the schedule on the website, the earliest we could leave for the Blue Lagoon would be 1:30 and the latest we could leave to come back would be 4:00 so that means about 2 hours at the beach - probably not worth the $50 pp! We are planning to shop and snorkel at other ports and, although we can never get too much of either activity, I was kinda hoping to do something different in Nassau. Any ideas would be appreciated.
