Fiji Adventure

Hi Guys,

I'm after your opinions on the Fiji Adventure itinerary that P&O is selling for February next year. We did a Ten Nighter on the Sun in January of this year and had an absolute ball, so we're looking at something a little different, but also an itinerary that stops at Mystery Island and the Isle of Pines again, as they were fantastic ports.

So, what is Fiji like? We seem to have our hearts set on this cruise, budget be damned. It seems that P&O like sending the Pearl out on longer cruises, so I'm expecting that the ship might be a little different to the Sun...

Any opinions are appreciated.

Hi PaxtonA. Hubby & I did the Pacific Pearl cruise to Fiji this Feb. Unfortunatly we missed Port Denarau & Dravini Island. Got to Suva-You need to get out of the shopping area . The captain took us to SavuSavu-not a port we were to go to. We looked around but again should have got out of town. Missed Isle of Pines also. We have booked again for the 16-02-12 on Pearl again. Lovely ship. We had a lot of sea days because of having to miss a cyclone. Loveeeee sea days. We will book the helicopter ride again for Port Denarau & will get a taxi at Suva to take us around this time. Suexxx

We were at Port Denarue (spelt that wrong I know) we actually did a ship shore tour (which is quite rare as we very rarely do, usually do our own thing) but had been recommended to do the South Sea Island Shore Tour. This was great, had the best day, included catamaran to South Sea Island, the most beautiful little island ever, quite a few free activities there, great bbq lunch provided, wines, beer, soft drink all day. Our kids also (for a charge) went scuba diving which they reraly enjoyed (had a 10 min induction first ) there was also massages etc... which was soooo good, laying on a proper massage bed looking out to sea, from memory it was about $60-$70 p/p Other friends did the helicopter rides and most just wandered around but all said that it was expensive and was ok if you travelled out a bit.

p.s... Loved the Pearl....:D

Hi Guys,

So, what is Fiji like?

Any opinions are appreciated.

We have been to Fiji several times - including two cruises around the Yasawa Islands with Yasawa Princess and then a cruise with Sun Princess that included Suva and Port Denarau. We have also done two land based sections before and after the Yasawa cruises and stayed on Mana. We enjoyed Fiji and liked meeting the Fijians and visiting villages, markets etc while we were land touring and island hopping. The snorkelling was amazing once you got away from the coast and the run off of the main island. Totally agree with posters who advised getting out of Suva and Port Denarau on a tour. From Port Denara I would suggest one of the island getaways - either Oolala or South Sea. You can pick up some useful reviews using Tripadvisor.

Can't help much about Suva - we are not fond of coach tours and this next time intend to walk to the Museum and then possibly taxi to the Novatel for lunch. Last time we did the walk around the town and were bothered by touts and did not find the shops or markets attractive or even fun. Perhaps us!

Enjoy what ever you decide.

Will do.

We're a group of Ten, half have sailed before (Pacific Sun, January this year), and the other half have not sailed before. We had Ten Days on the Sun, and it did feel too short. I'm really looking forward to Vila and Mystery Island again.

Some of the parties on deck were fantastic, and could have done them night after night.
