Denali and Mckinley Princess Lodges - Which Building/rooms?

HI,

We will be staying at the Denail Princess Lodge for 2 nights and the Mckinley Lodge for 1 night. Half of our party is elderly with limited mobility (no stairs or walking long distances) and half are active people.

Which rooms or building will be good for elderly people with limited mobility? They want to be close to the restaurant and shuttle bus dropoff/pickup. The active people want to be close to the elderly people, but want a room with a good view?

Any sugestions for both types of guests in both places? I can not seem to find a good layout map for either lodge.

Thanks.

You are booking this independently?? Do you have your own transportation?

I would think, you won't want to be in the back buildings?

And if you are going this year, I would make the calls, now. They are full most of the summer, and if looking for several rooms, you may be out of luck with location requests.

If there are mobility concerns, then you want to be where the easy transportation access is, otherwise it doesn't matter?

We are part of a Princess Cruisetour so we have rooms and transportation to and from the lodge. Are all the rooms the same? do they have any rooms/building with better views? Which ones would be closest to the restaurant and shuttle bus pickup/dropoff. We are taking the Eidelson shuttle bus on one day. Thanks.

Your travel agent really needs to alert Princess (tour dept) to the needs of some in your party. It absolutely needs to be in your people's travel records.

You have problems when you book a cruise tour. Many people who book cruise tours are elderly, have mobility problems and/or want the best views.

I would give your travel agent time to do this and then I would telephone the hotel you are going to be in and make your case with the names and arrival dates of the guests who have special needs. You might have to do this several times including very last minute.

You will then need to repeat it all with your cruise tour guide/escort.

Do not assume anything.

If you are booked on a cruisetour then the rooms are assigned and handed to you ahead of time on the bus or train so you don't have to check in. You need to alert your booking agent to your situation ASAP!

It is Eielson, you do realize that you are going to have to take the lodge shuttle bus to the Access Center? Verify the time of operation. You need to consider being there an hour prior, since you probably are not going to have your tickets ahead of time?

I got curious and telephoned the Denali Princess. I asked what they do about people who can't walk far. 800-426-0500 Of course, I didn't have a booking number so could not get really specific information but it was a start.

They do the best they can, but it is first come, first served. Many, many people have the same or similar needs.

You really need to have your travel agent work this out with Princess or if you booked directly, you need to do so yourself.

Do it now!
