Tintamarre Island

We've been to St. Maarten before and just went to a beach near shopping. We want to do something different. Saw that there used to be tours going to Tintamarre Island which got good reviews. Can anyone suggest some good ones. We will be here on a cruise in November so will need to find one that get us back to the cruise ship on time. We would be open to other beaches also, just want them to be relatively uncrowded. Don't mind a few people, but don't want to go somewhere where people are lined up all over. We love being on the water and getting in beach time so anything that combines the 2 are perfect for us! Thanks!

We too... will be in St Maarten in November and we are looking for something different to do this trip. We have been there several times in the past and the Tintamerre Mud Bath sounds like a neat to do! Problem seems to be... finding a tour to take you there! Who do we contact?

Thank You in advance for any info you can share with us concerning getting to Tintamerre. We are in port from 7:00am to 6:00am.

The mud baths have been closed for years. The beach is beautiful but the snorkeling is poor. Worthy of a stop for a little while but there are no facilities on this island. Perhaps Pinel island would make for a nice day for you.

Karysa...Thanks for the Tintamerre info! We visited Pinel Island on a 2012 cruise...Great Day...beautiful "quiet" beach. We had a great "ribs" lunch there as well!! :D

We've never just gone downtown...walked the boardwalk....that's probably what we will do this trip. We have shopped at Rima's though... on an island tour (another trip)...best prices on the island! :D

Question...if we decide to go downtown...where is the water taxi pick up spot? Is it close to the cruiseship pier? Will the water taxi take us to the waterfront boardwalk as well? Not sure if the boardwalk is in the downtown area...is it? Also any suggestions on where to go for a "good food" lunch?

:)Just follow the signs at the port to the water taxi. Get off at he pier in town. The main part of the beach, and the boardwalk will be on your right as you walk down the dock. The shopping area will be directly in front of you. I don't swim at this beach but I do love shopping on Front and Back St and I love the boardwalk. I hope that you get many ideas for great places for lunch on the boardwalk. I have not tried too many places here as I really enjoy the Ocean Lounge at the Holland House Hotel. It's a wonderful spot to people watch and to eat.

just visited both on day trip with Capt Bob Cass - fantastic! contact info: bcass1111 at gmail dot com. VERY fast boats!! great day, stopped at these 2 beaches + 2-3 others (on 'mainland' of island), great lunch at Grand Case. one of best excursions ever! BUT, no more 'mud baths' at Tintemarre due to some kind of bacteria found in mud - NOT advisable. book w/capt bob - you'll have an amazing day and beat the crowds! we were there last week with 5 ships in port. never a crowd anywhere we went, barely a few people (most on Pinel, but still not crowded like Orient, Maho, etc - which app. had to turn away folks, as no more space on the beach. even some who had booked excursions to Orient Beach were sent elsewhere, as 'reserved' beach chairs were given to others who got there earlier! only crowds we dealt with entire day were at cruiseship port, getting back to ship)
