Whats a good public beach in Playa?

Trying to figure out what to do in Playa. Can anyone recommend a good public beach in Playa, or a good beach that is well know by local cab drivers that we could easily get to.

Most beaches in Mexico are public. The beach at PDC basically runs the length of the town. There area number of beach side restaurants.

Personally my favorite beach is Akumal (very quiet but with a couple of restaurants). The beach in PDC is busier.

Mamita's is wonderful. I was just there. What a paradise!!!

I agree with the previous post that Mamitas is great. We vacation in Playa del Carmen for a couple weeks every March and love it. There is also the El Tukan beach club next to it. It is on the best beach in Playa. The north part of town has the best beaches as the beach in the main part of town has been eroded due to hurricanes. It costs around $5 dollars or 50 pesos to rent chairs for the day. They will bring you drinks and good food. Be aware that there is a strong Europeon presence here and there will surely be topless women!!

where and wat is there to do in mamita's like wat can u rent (water toys.....etc)? good food?wats near by
