flahagan Posted October 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2011 Have any of you ever taken the miniature tourist train in Nice? I found it doing a search one time, but have seen very little about it from people who have been there. It is supposed to cover the main "touristy" sites, takes 45 minutes for the full loop and costs 7 euros or thereabouts. We will be tendering in Villefranche and probaby take the bus into Nice, as that is supposed to be more convenient for seeing the old town. But I welcome any suggestions from travelers who have "been there, done that." Several in our party have knee troubles and we're trying to keep down excessive walking. Thanks
sippican Posted October 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2011 When we were on our tour we saw a tram-like vehicle at the Chateau. (like the ones in the Disney parking lots) Is that what you are thinking of?
flahagan Posted October 8, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted October 8, 2011 Well, the pictures I've seen of it are of a white "locomotive" pulling open cars behind it. I Googled it and found it that way, but it doesn't seem to get much publicity on the forums.

Thanks We took it years ago while staying in Nice and found it very interesting. It goes along the main road to the park and the cemetery with a good commentary. We were in Nice over a week and enjoyed the info we got on the tram to add to our memories. Sue

Thanks Did this one, as well as the similar ones in Toulon (see pictures of the trip on this board) and Cannes. It's a nice alternative to walking down the Promenade. The main site has the basic info and fares in English too: http://www.trainstouristiquesdenice.com/en/petit-train-nice.php
