Cabin choice on the Sea?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I am getting ready to book on the Sea and was interested in any feedback on which cabin category would be better. Category C or a Suite AB? I have price quotes showing Suite AB about $600 more than Cat. C and was wondering if it was worth it. Any suggestions?

I personally don't think it is worth the extra cost. We don't spend a whole lot of time in our cabin. But it is just personal preference whether you think it is worth it or not.

You could book the lower catagory as a guarantee and hope to get upgraded for free.

Cabin sizes are small on the SEA but most cruisers don't spend much time in the cabins.

Enjoy the SEA what ever cabin you end up in.

Until we cruise again........NCL SEA 4/17/04

I agree about booking a guarentee cabin at a class you won't be disappointed in if you don't get an upgrade. Good luck, yes cabins are small but very workable and it's a super fun ship. NMNIta

and here is my $0.02 worth.

last year i proposed to my folks, sister, and broinlaw that we just go with a the lowest cat that would give us a picture window.

you really are splitting hairs in terms of "how much more are you really getting" when you talk about the Sea.

i know people like to say they got a balcony, an owners suite and such...but really, in the end...are you in there much at all?

don't get me wrong if i got an owner's suite for a good deal...i'd be all over it. save your money, buy some topshelf cocktails, and treat yourself to a mandara massage.

Just got back from the Sea. I didn't think the room size would matter to me but it did. They are very small. However, the inside deluxe rooms were much larger. We had an outside room for 4 which was a closet. Are you getting an inside room?

We sailed on the sea with our 2 children and booked the large inside cabin. I think it was Cabin 3200. It ended up being about 15X12 in size with the bads alond the four wall and a large table in the middle. Plenty of room.

Our friends were in cabin 3200 and it was much larger than ours (at least that's what my kids tell me). Ours was 6252, last room on the boat. Very small, strong vibration. Inside deluxe room towards the middle would probably be the best bet on this ship.

Have sailed the Sea 3 times, all 3 times we got an inside cabin 45xx Main deck. I believe all the rooms were ample in size. The last sailing in February, somehow they gave us a handicap room, talk about room, omigosh. The bathroom was almost as big as the living area. Quite large, but then they have to be a bit larger to accommodate, chairs, scooters etc.

well the Sea is a beautiful ship. even with the small cabins. but as said many times...we were only in there to sleep or take a nap, shower, and change clothes. we had an outside cabin with picture window...i think it was Deck 3.

HOWEVER, i will share with you that last year (August), yours truly was the odd man out. my family sailed in an odd number...7. so guess who had to sleep on the upper berth?

that's right...all 250lbs of me!!! was a pain in the arse negotiating the metal ladder with very slim rungs. but you know what? that bunk was soooooooooooooooo comfy!!!

Ok folks... it has been awhile and the cabin category has changed. I studied the layout of the ship until I was blue in the face. The previous posting about a handicap room got me thinking............... So we booked cabin 4123. I questioned whether I could or not being as neither of us were handicap - but the cruise line said that those restrictions get removed the closer you get to the sailing date.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!!

Happy Sailing.......only 17 more days!!!

Having cruised on the Sea twice. The only thing I would recommend is to get a room mid-ship or forward. As one poster has said there is a vibration and noise if you are aft of mid-ship. And it is worse on the lower decks.
Overall it is a great ship and crew. Hope this helps.

Well, tried to answer a post.. that didn't work. We had a handicap room, 3114, and it was really nice. We had a window (tv) which we kept on so we could look outside. The bathroom was HUGE. The closet space was great. The only drawback was that it was just under the dancefloor of one of the lounges....

  • 2 months later...
when my DW booked she asked about the handicap room, neither of us being handicapped (mentality wise maybe but i won't go into that :) ), ncl told her that if they ended up needing the room they would move us. is there a crime in booking a handicap room, nope. now if they needed the room and you complained about it, thats another story.

when we book ncl again i am sure the DW will look at handicap rooms. ;)

DJDQ,

That's a good location almost mid ship, just a few steps down the hall to the
elevators and stairs up to the pool deck. It's a little larger than the "standard" size room. I think you'll have an obstructed
view (lifeboat). We were in 8134, last month and really liked that floor. Especially since we were upgraded from Deck 2.

The Sea is very easy to get around, elevators are fairly prompt and not too crowded.

My Sis booked this cruise and we had a lower inside -then they upgraded us to 8th deck outside with obstructed view. We were just wondering if it was really an upgrade. All we could go on was more square footage and at least a little light from outside! We booked first week in July for Sepy.4th cruise. I think we will be happy no matter what we get! Excited !

That is funny about the handicap room, because in May 2002 my husband tore his hamstring 1 week prior to our Eastern Caribbean cruise. They had to boot the person out of the handicap room, as he needed the hand rails in the bathroom to get off the toilet. It was a bigger room, and was nice, but I don't think we would want it unless it was necessary. In that case it was necessary. He was in a full leg brace all week.
