Has anyone been over to St John from St Thomas ?

I have looked at the Cunard tours and they are offering a catamaran trip over to St John, however it say's you are dropped off in town where you can take a taxi to a beach.

I don't really want to wander around shops and with only two hours free time I would like to know how close the beach is and would a taxi be needed ?

If you want to go to the beach a taxi is a must. It is really too far to walk, especially if you only have two hours.
