jtl513 Posted November 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Anywhere from 3 weeks to 0 days (i.e. at the pier), but most commonly around 11 or 10 days out. :)
Rare terrydtx Posted November 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 20, 2011 On our cruise next Sunday, the room assignments and upgrade upsells didn't go out until last week.

porrah Posted November 20, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2011 We are sailing on Dec 4th and I got an e mail yesterday, although I'd actually seen the assignment on the HAL web site the day before.
mycruisedirector Posted November 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2011 We are cruising on Dec. 3 on the Ossterdam and we received our cabin assignment yesterday. That is about 13 days out. We were pretty fortunate we were upgraded from a VH to a VC level. But I can tell you that there is no rhyme or reason how they do the assignments. I know I have some mobility issues but am not in a wheelchair and they gave us a room by the aft elevators. We have cruised over 23 times and it is different each time. Have a great cruise! DizzyDallasDi Posted November 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2011 Anywhere from 3 weeks to 0 days (i.e. at the pier), but most commonly around 11 or 10 days out. :) I have often wondered about the room assignment at the pier and luggage tags. What does one do when they hand their bags over to the porters at the pier but don't know what cabin number to put on them? Would you just put your name on the tags then hope the stewards figure out what room you're in?
cruisemama5 Posted November 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 21, 2011 I have often wondered about the room assignment at the pier and luggage tags. What does one do when they hand their bags over to the porters at the pier but don't know what cabin number to put on them? Would you just put your name on the tags then hope the stewards figure out what room you're in? We went on a cruise last year where we did not book until 4 p.m. the day before, so we did not have our room until we got to the pier. The porters had a list with room assignments on it and they put it on our luggage for us. They had tags for us, because we had not even printed them out. We booked, hurried and packed, and started driving to CA from UT to make the boat on time. For our cruise on Dec. 5th, we had a guarantee. They just put out rrom assignments a few days ago, Thursday I think. We are up from what we originally booked, but that was because after final payment there was a price drop for a few days that we saw, so they moved us from an obstructed view cabin to a partially obstructed view. Was hoping for a better upgrade when assignments came out, but no luck. We have been on a few cruises, but no luck on an upgrade yet. Hope one day the upgrade fairy calls!
