one Day in Tauranga on a cruise ship

We don't plan on doing any shore excursions in Tauranga. What is there to see and do here?

I guess it is the gateway to Rotorua. This is a must as far as we are concerned. We want to see the geyser errupt and all the boiling mud pools.

if you have never seen geyers and mudpools then it is worth going, it is quite facinating, the sulphur smell is not to bad and you will acclimate to it,if you like the new zealand greenstone there are several greenstone factories in rotorua as well, it is a chance to see some of the new zealand scenery as well:)

Cruise ships dock at Mt Manganui which is a short bus ride from the town of Tauranga. Mt Manganui is very attractive and hanging about there on the beach, hiking up the mountain for the view or mooching around and about the shops and cafes is a plesant and relaxing day if you do not want to go further afield. There is a very handy Information Site near the entrance to the wharf where the ship docks for local maps and information.
