Tampa hotels

We have never cruised out of Tampa before. We are flying in the day before the cruise. Any suggestions for hotels? How far is the airport to the cruise terminal?

Airport to port is only about a 15 minute ride - $25+tip flat rate in a cab.

 

There are several hotels in Tampa that offer cruise packages but there are only three that offer airport shuttle, shuttle to the port and from the port after the cruise; check out the Holiday Inn Rocky Point, Hamption Inn Rocky Point and Chase Suites Rocky Point. All three hotels have a nice view of the Bay and are within walking distance restaurants. Good luck! :)

We stayed at Holiday Inn Rocky Point. Was a great deal with both airport, cruiseport and then from cruiseport back to airport shuttles included. Not a whole lot in the area but we enjoyed the restaurant next door. Sat outside and had a wonderful meal while listening to live music. If you are looking for a good deal and don't need a whole lot of action this may be a good fit and a good value for you.

We are staying at Holiday Inn,Rocky Point; we have a long flight,just want to relax before our cruise.

We went against what most people on CC seem to do and stayed out at the airport at the Sheraton Suites. The big things for us were price, as we were staying 3 nights and a place for us to hang out at night when the kids were sleeping. The place isn't brand new, but the shuttle took us to and from the airport, as well as the two major malls and anywhere else within 3 miles. The cab to the port was $15, I don't know why we weren't charged the flat rate but it worked out in our favour ;) I'd stay there again, just simply because there isn't a lot for us to do in downtown Tampa, the hotel was very conveniently located and the price was great for what we got.
