Why Hasn't Anyone Talked About The Dream's Staff?

I keep coming across praises and compliments for Hotel Directors, Cruise Directors, etc. on certain NCL ships. However, I have not come across anything about the ones on the Dream. Does anyone know why?

The Dream has also drawn a lot of negative comments as a ship in general. Is there any connection between the two?

Just wondering......

We were on the Dream March 21-27...my humble opinion of staff...Cruise Director and his staff enjoyed their jobs and did a good job during shows etc., friendly when seen around the ship. The waiters in the dining room...some outstanding some very business like, but all very effecient. The waitress in La Trattoria was the only one that my hubby and I did not care for her as she had no-personality and would not interact with us, but no problem with the service other than it was obvious that she was put off by us asking what the pasta of the day was. The menu said to ask your waitress  Hostess and Matre D' in the dining rooms were very friendly and worked to get you seated quickly. Service in the Le Bistro was outstanding. Service in the Island Grill was laid back and most staff had good interaction with passengers. We enjoyed one of the older waiters who would go around singing and encouraging others to join him. Our Room Steward was a little slow to warm up to us...but after a few days she became very friendly...after we had been to Cozumel and she got to call her family. She even gave us a bottle of wine when we left. Assistant Room Steward was VERY friendly, calling us by our first names from the moment he meant us with a Mr. or Mrs. in front of our first name. I hope that helps...a little! I have live reports from the Dream on this site if interested.

A lot of the curent staff of the Dream is fairly new. This is a good sign that htey are responding to some of the negative comment sthat have been on here recently. I thought the cruise director was full of personality. We had a great girl, Claudia, in the spa but the rest of the spa staff was mediocre to poor. Tell Claudia "hi from Frank's group" if you end up there. We also had a very helpful shore excursion person. He was correcting his own company's mistakes but he did it well and with a good attitude. We also had several very friendly waiters, but with freestyle dining you don't get to know your waiter very well. On the flip side, Our experience at check in was horrible. When I tried to reconcile a problem with 2 gifts I sent to other guests I was told that my Mother in law would have to go to the spa to find out she had been sent a gift certificate. I guess through telepathy she was supposed to know to go to the spa and ask. And a photo album I sent my parents was never received. I tried to explain the problems and was treated like I was the one who was wrong. When they called to tell me that my guests did in fact receive the things I sent I was about to lose it! I asked for an apology and a note sent to my guests explaining the problem and taking responsibility for it. They did send them noted that they should have received the gift but took no responsibility. Since I do this often I have learned to NEVER send gifts with NCL. Of the four gifts I sent only 2 were received. The bartender at the coffee bar also had a chip on her shoulder even when just trying to make small talk.

i too learned never to send gifts through NCL...i tried last summer when my parents celebrated their annivesary on the wind to hawaii. i sent my dad a credit for the casino and my mom, a spa package. ( told my parents i got them before they left so they knew to make sure they received them)

everything seemed fine until my parents got home and told me the casino credit couldn't be used because there's no casino (shouldn't the rep have told me that on the phone?) but when they tried to just use it as on board credit, they wouldn't allow it and just refunded my credit card. my mom's spa package never made it to her room or her sail and sign card. she asked about it but no record on file. i had to call NCL after their cruise and have it refunded after i had to fax my credit card statment showing the original charge.

by no way am i complaining about this...i'm easy going and i understand things happen and get mixed up. just sharing a story and bottom line..i learned to stay away from bon voyage gifts! :D

No matter what they do in drydock, it will not improve the customer service on the Dream. For years it has been the major bone of contention; mainly due to the Hotel Director's attitude. When asked in a public meeting, 'why the service was so poor', he plainly stated, 'it doesn't matter how we treat the passengers, the ship will always be full.'

Only expect the bare mininum of services.

I fear this rant will continue into the next millenium.

Please, please do not listen to Divine Ms M. The Dream could give each passenger a free cruise and she would still have something to complain about. Talk about the Boy Who Cried Wolf.....

I am scheduled to go on the Dream in June and am looking forward to the cruise. I believe a cruise is as good as one makes it.

I have cruised the Dream and did not have one second of an experience with anyone or anything close to the issues that have been posted about over and over by DivineMsM. I am sorry, the ship was not to your liking Divine MsM. We all have the right to post our experience, but I think it is only fair to keep in mind that the majority of the cruisers probably do not feel the same way about the Dream as you do. Life is short, stuff happens...it is ok to inform everyone over and over and over, but I don't think it is fair to assume that everyone will have a bad experience on the Dream just because you did. Since we have cruised her I just want to say that we had well above the bare minimum of service. when we were on the Dream in March. Mark have a great cruise. :)

Very nice MsM. Your fangs are showing. Your hatred of the Dream is by now almost legendary on this board, and anything you say is only further proof that you are a very bitter old woman, who just can't let it go (that was payback for refering to the other poster's "blatant stupidity" tsk tsk.).

If you think smearing the Dream over and over and over and over is doing anyone any good, well, think again. The only thing that you accomplish is making those that have already booked the Dream to have doubts about their upcoming trip, does that make you happy? I have to wonder why you continue to, dare I say, haunt, the NCL board. Well, I think I know the answer.

There are countless posts about the Dream since I started frequenting here, and many, many, many of them are polluted with your bitterness. Any new cruiser that searches for posts about the Dream is sure to get a bellyful of you. So, do you really need to poop on every new thread about the Dream? I think I know the answer to that as well .... since you can't move on.

Please drop it.

We had nothing but good experiences with the cruise staff. It was my 21 year old DD first cruise and she had a great time. The staff members were always polite and helpful. Never made DD feel silly about asking questions, and went out of their way to help her over the rough spots...

Thanks all. Don't get me wrong. I believe that the Divine Ms M has a right to her opinion but she does not have to tell us over and over and over.

I am looking forward to Alaska and the Dream.
