kateanon Posted February 3, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2012 We booked our cruise (sailing Feb 11th) just last month. We thought the TA had hooked us up with insurance for everything, because we had asked her to. We've had some craziness (unrelated to traveling) in our lives and didn't follow up on everything as well as we should have. Only in reviewing everything did I realize it's not set up. Can I still get some or is it too late? We booked in the 2nd week of January, maybe the third.
6rugrats Posted February 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2012 Yes, you can still purchase insurance. Go to insuremytrip.com and compare policies. You just may not be able to purchase coverage that will cover any pre-existing conditions, or "cancel for any reason" coverage.
sirwired Posted February 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2012 6rugrats is correct, you can get insurance from pretty much anywhere, but you will not be able to get around pre-ex exclusions with many providers. However, CSA and HTH may both waive pre-ex exclusions up until Final Payment. Check the policies to be sure. Get a new TA. Taking care of this sort of thing is exactly what you are paying them for. I wouldn't wait much longer, but try http://www.tripinsurancestore.com (if that's okay to post), or http://www.insuremytrip.com , or http://www.squaremouth.com/ . There are plenty of insurance options which will still cover pre-existing conditions (if that's an issue) before 30 days have passed--you're probably past the 14-day mark (I would double-check this), but that doesn't mean you're out of options. If you are a veteran, or are or have a traveling companion who is an active-duty serviceperson, I would recommend http://www.usaa.com --they offer very good, inexpensive travel policies which, at this point, should cover pre-existing conditions (depending upon which you select), and will also cover deployments--I'm not sure which cruise you are taking, but I know DCL insurance does not cover deployments. I know that neither DCL nor Princess cover pre-existing conditions, so their policies are a no-go for my family.

We already complained and won't be using them again. Thanks for all the help everybody!
