One day in Seattle pre-cruise

There are several in my group arriving in July pre-cruise. We have decided to stay near the airport and ride the link rail downtown for one day. These are my thoughts. We will shuttle to the link rail from our hotel and arrive in Westlake Center where we can either walk to Pikes Market or take the monorail to the space needle. Return from the space needle via the monorail and possibly walk to Pikes Market to meet up with friends. My questions in particular are: what is the best mode of transportation to Kerry Viewpoint and is there bus transportation from Pikes Market back to Westlake Center. I believe I have read this may be an uphill walk and want others to be aware of their options.

Kerry Point is 2 miles max from downtown so a taxi would be $10-$15.

Otherwise you can use the trip planner to check on bus routes. The nice thing about this trip planner is that it recognizes common names of places so you don't have to enter a specific address. ie you can enter

Westlake Center and Kerry Park as destination points.

It is hard to know how to answer the question about the walk from Pikes' Market to Westlake. There is a portion on an incline, but I wouldn't call it difficult. But I am very active and have no mobility problems.

I'm basically lazy and have bad knees besides, and I'm willing to walk it if I need to--if that helps! Start walking east from the south end of the Market, and you'll avoid the steepest hills--the block up from Pike Place to First Avenue gets more steep every block you go north from there.
