bobcatcruiser1331 Posted February 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 29, 2012 We have never been there and are on a budget. What are some good excursions that are wallet friendly? Also, this may be a dumb question, but is there anything near the ports that we could just do on our own and arrive back in one piece? (like a safe town or shopping area or something) Thanks for your help! :)
tweekster Posted February 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2012 Nassua is a safe place to walk around the town too shop. You can book a hotel across from the atlantis [sheraton] and then get your aqua passes to the atlantis so much cheaper. They have a great water park. (like a safe town or shopping area or something)Thanks for your help! :) There's plenty to do on a budget.. Walking Historic Tour (link on my website www.bahamas-treasures.com) Public beach at Junkanoo or Cabbage Beach (walk to Junkanoo/ $4 cab to cabbage) Day pass to Sheraton cable beach ($25) Day pass to the Hilton - $55 included $30 lunch voucher. Shopping on Bay Street - one block from port Snorkeling with www.blueholewatersports.com Ardastra Gardens www.ardastra.com I'd stay away from any of the overpriced atlantis tours.. $120 for a water park is just crazy.. it's nowhere's near worth that kind of money.. especially if you are on a budget. In reference to the above post.. Only Atlantis and Comfort suites rooms are allowed access to the waterpark. Not Sheraton.

dfgf Posted March 13, 2012 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2012 Depends on how small your budget is! I would recommend taking the water taxi from where the ships dock over to Paradise Island. They give you a nice tour / narration during the trip and it's only $4 or $5 per person one way. From there you can walk to Atlantis and walk around a bit. When you're ready to leave it's (if you're in shape to walk a couple of miles) I recommend walking back to the ships. I did it back in January. You get some beautiful picture opportunites from that bridge!
