Just off Epic - March 24-31, 2012

Recommended Posts

I just got off the Epic yesterday, and what a sad parting of ways it was. I enjoyed my time so thoroughly on this ship!! Embarkation was a piece of cake! I had put money in my shipboard account prior to sailing and had no issue with needing a credit card or anything of the sort at the port. Within 20 minutes of arriving at POM, I was boarding the beautiful Epic for a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean!

The Mandara Spa

My first stop was the Mandara Spa to get my weekly pass! It was $253 for me and my best friend, and completely worth it! I used the hydrotherapy pool every single day, along with the hot stone loungers.... and the gem of a balcony at the back of the spa! It was lovely to sit out there and watch the wake the ship created. This was definitely my favorite place on the ship! I also got the massage by the sea, which was a massage out on a balcony with the sound of the ocean going by while I got my massage. I got the thai herbal poultice massage too which I HIGHLY recommend!! If anyone wants the spa price list I should be able to post it in the next couple days. :)

Wave Balcony Cabin

The room was cramped, but it worked. There was tons of space and both of my suitcases fit under one twin bed. The bed was really comfortable, the shower was a dream, and the sheer doors were fine for my friend and me. The curtain kept things separated plenty. I would imagine it would be hard for people who aren't good friends or family though.

Shows

I saw Cirque Dreams, the Murder Mystery Lunch, Second City, Legends in Concert, and Blue Man Group. My favorite was Legends and Blue Man, Cirque Dreams was really cool, and Second City was.... AWFUL. They are not funny. Cirque was a little difficult because we were sitting in a booth in the back and couldn't see the top part of the show. It was still a really good show with lots of very talented people though!! Blue Man was hysterical and a great way to spend an hour! Steven Tyler in Legends made the whole show!! As for the Murder Mystery lunch, it was cheesy but I expected as much. The food was gross, but I just went and had a fab tuna sandwich at O'Sheehans afterwards! The food at Cirque was delicious though!! I've read complaints here but we had a land and sea plate that was amazing!

Food

We ate at Wasabi, Teppanyaki, Cagney's, Le Bistro, Taste, and the Garden Cafe.

Wasabi[- Amazing sushi!! I loved everything I tried!!

Teppanyaki- My favorite meal of the whole cruise! The presentation was flawless and the flavor was sensational!

Cagney's- My filet was delicious!! I also liked that the chef came around and asked for feedback!

Le Bistro- The food was great, but the location was odd. For a restaurant that was supposed to be more on the romantic side, the sound from the Epic Theatre was intrusive. It could have just been our location. The escargot was EPIC, and the fondue dessert was amazing!

Taste- We went here for lunch and had a gorgeous view of the ocean. My club sandwich was great!

Garden Cafe- This was our go-to place when we were too tired or lazy to get dressed to go elsewhere. The chicken fingers were the BEST!! Ice cream was a lovely afternoon treat too!

Ice Bar, Casino, Bliss, Spice H20, & Parties

The Ice Bar was -17 degrees and worth every moment of frozen delight! My group only lasted about 15 minutes but what a cool experience! The casino was fun.... I lost $10 in total, but I had a good time doing it! The 80s party was originally supposed to be in Spice, but due to weather was moved to Bliss. What a fun location!! The parties in Spice H2O - Latin & White Hot - were off the chain! Papi Chulo, our cruise director, was a LOT of fun too! No complaints about any of the activities!

Ports of Call

St. Maarten - We did the Orient Beach Rendezvous and had a great time! Our time at the beach felt short, but I did parasailing and some in our group did jet skiing. The water was clear and lovely! Back at the Marketplace we tried Guavaberry Rum which is not to be missed!

St. Thomas - We did the BOSS Underwater Adventure! The crew was a blast and the scooters were a ton of fun!! Snorkeling was nice, but I wish there had been more fish.

Nassau- We did the Dolphin Cay deep swim at Atlantis. I had been swimming with dolphins in Cabo before and that was definitely a better experience, but this was cool in that we got to do the foot push with the dolphins and swim with them using scooters. Our dolphin, Cosmo, was adorable!

Other

The ship was stunning. The crew was friendly and accommodating! I have absolutely zero complaints and loved every moment of my cruise!! I can't wait to go on another!!!

I would post pictures, but I'm not sure how to do that. If any of you get the chance to sail on Epic, do it! She's beautiful.

Just off the Epic also.

I absolutely agree about the Spa. I probably saw you several times in the back on those comfortable lounge chairs. I was the one with the camera taking lots of pictures.

I surely did see you!! Wasn't the spa simply amazing?! Did you have any massages or anything?
