river cruise line without tours and no buffets

Most lines catering to the US offer some tours, but you do not have to take them. You are entirely welcome to go off on your own. The only buffet might be at lunch time, and that is a salad bar, although Viking does offer a small buffet at lunch in the lounge as an alternative to the main dining room (which is still open).

Cheers,

Look into some of the smaller Europe lines. Do you want the crew to speak English? All the America lines operate almost the same. I know AMA has a menu for all three meals if you don't want the buffet.

I am leaning toward AMA for the freedom of travel outside the cruise line. I do want the crew to speak english. I just like my freedom and when I travel and am spending the money I want it my way. I have travel enough to know things can be out of your control and things happen. Love the relaxed travel of cruising. We like to spend time in our room and on the balcony as we enjoy the sceenery and the quiet.
