Email on TP

Having never been on a cruise before, I was wondering how easy it is to use email? Is it expensive and how much time do you receive? Do the emails actually get there in a timely manner? Thanks!

the internet room is available 24/7, and it is charged to your room by the minute. we checked in with home most every day.there are several computers , 5 or six I think.

Can people send you e-mails also or is it just for sending them out?

you can recieve them too, just like any other time you are on the internet.

Does anyone know how much it costs on the TP or what packages they offer? Do people actually receive their emails? thanks!!

As long as you can check email via a web-based server you can retrieve your email from anywhere. For example, if you have a Yahoo or Hot Mail account (web based) you can get these emails anywhere anytime. But if you have email coming in from a local server that goes straight to your Outlook or Outlook Express, you have to find out how to access them on the web and get your email that way. For example, I have Charter high speed internet at work and the emails come to me through Outlook Express. But if I wanted to check these emails at home or on vacation I'd have to get on the web and go to charter.net and log on to their site and get my emails that way.

35 cents a minute. So type fast! ;) Actually, we used it pretty liberally on our last cruise and didn't find that our "email internet" bill was that much. About $12 I think. :)

If you are a platinum member, e-mail access is free. Of course, Princess will charge your onboard account and unless you ask them to reverse the charges, it will be passed on to your credit card. Also, if you're having problems using webmail, try this page or site: http:/mail2web.com/

We had a very difficult accessing email or even getting online in Papeete. But in the other islands it was easy. If you have trouble getting online be sure to tell the purser's desk and they will remove it from your bill.

 

Also, if you use Princess email account for passengers you will pay out the rear! It is much cheaper to access your yahoo, aol, hotmail, etc.

are there internet cafes? Will there be a way to access email on the island? We are there pre-cruise, and will need access. Anyone know? :cool:

Does TP have this, like other Princess ships? We have to bring a laptop to be able to download email attachments for business...

I think there is a post in the Princess Cruise section relating to this...I have a feeling that on the smaller ships that they don't...but you might want to search that forum.

The TP claims to have a wi-fi location on deck 4. I was quoted a charge of $10.00 for 30 minutes and decided not to use it so I can't speak from experience on how, or if, it works.
