Mike2131 Posted May 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2005 Could anyone share info on the wine tastings I read about in the Patters? In brief, there probably be two, both held on sea days. The first is an introductory tasting and costs about $7.00. The second will cost $25.00 (at least it did on the Coral) and will feature more costly wines (ours included Opus One) - and more of them. I thought both were definitely worth the money.
TorontoTL Posted May 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2005 With the first less expensive wine tasting, you do get to taste several different wines from the wine list and you get to keep the shot glass used for the dessert wine at the end. Also if you give you waiter the wine from the tasting later when you order wine, you get the cost of the tasting discounted from the bottle that you buy. We also got to keep the aperitif glass, but the discount we received on any wine ordered was $5.00 pp (only one $5.00 discount per bottle). We actually ended up ordering 2 bottles of the dessert wine, Essensia, because we really liked it.
AliceJ Posted May 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 3, 2005 We did the second wine tasting ($25.00) on the Caribbean Princess. Unfortunately, no Opus one for us!! Overall a good time, but we didn't find any of the wines to be spectacular. Most were very good. We found that Peter (wine steward who has a display outside the aft elevators on deck 15) was a fountain of information, and steered us toward some truly excellent wines that we ordered to drink on our balcony. Enjoy!!
