loisagogo Posted May 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2004 We just got back from Celebrity Summit. Had booked this tour over the Internet a few months ago and everything went fine. Sent our deposit through PayPal. Got to the dock and went to the flagpole. Guide was waiting ( I can't remember her name but she was friendly and knowledgeable). We actually had to wait additional time for everyone to get off the ship which was tendered quite far out from port. Our letter from Paul said excursion would leave at 10:00 a.m. but we were at the dock around 8:45 a.m. Belize time and waited until after 9:30 Belize time to leave so make sure you have correct time for tour.W e stopped a couple of times along the way to watch dolphins jumping out of water all around the boat. Guide passed out lunch menu, we made our selections and then enjoyed a 40 or so minute boat ride to Caye Caulker to drop off the menu selections and make a potty stop. . SharkRay alley was just off the caye and we anchored and snorked for about 45 minutes. We did see BOTH stingrays and nurse sharks all around us. Great experience. We then went a little bit farther and went to Coral Gardens. Beautiful snorkeling at this site. We did stick with guide as she requested because she knew her way through the coralheads. Back to Caye Caulker for a lunch of grilled fish, rice and beans and cole slaw and cold Belizan beer. Walked around Caye Caulker for a little bit but day was VERY HOT so back to restaurant for more beer. Overall, great experience. One of the highlights of our trip and I highly recommed it. Had time to shop both before and after the excursion at the wonderful little shops at the dock in Belize. VERY CLEAN restrooms and nice merchandise. Funny thing was seeing the same beach bag I bought at TJ Maxx for sale in several gift shops at a higher price. Didn't get any farther than the dock so we didn't get to see much of Belizetown. helicopter Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Loisagogo, we have this same excursion planned for early June, nice to hear you enjoyed it. I was wondering how long you stayed on Caye Caulker when you went for lunch after snorkeling? loisagogo Posted May 10, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 we probably there about 1 and 1/2 hours. We had time to eat lunch and walk around the town a bit. Not a whole lot there. Lots of restaurants and local places to stay. It was very hot so we walked back to restuarant and had another beer. We still had time to shop in Belizetown when the Coral Breeze took us back and before getting on ship tender. Ships docked very far out so it was a little ride back Celebrity Summit 4/30/04 <applet code="countdown.class" CODEBASE="http://*************/java-sys" width="203" height="25"> <param name="font" value="lcdb0"> <param name="year" value=2004> <param name="month" value=4> <param name="day" value=29> <param name="hour" value=8> </applet>
Capt. Orca Posted May 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2004 Hi Lois. We also went on the same trip. Had a very good time, and I would use them again.
recia Posted May 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2004 Loisagogo Can you tell me what the boat was like. My wife is not snorkeling with us just staying on the boat. Is there shade? She is afraid it will be very hot while everyone else snorkels. do you think she would be able to get down in the water to cool off while she waits? jean-lynd Posted May 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2004 The boat was almost completely shadded. There is no reason that she can not get in the water at the two stops. It was shallow enough for me to stand at the first stop but pretty deep at the second stop. We were there in February and it was chilly once we were wet and the boat was moving. We were glad that we had brought shirts and/or jackets that we could throw on. I hope this helps!
