bralli Posted June 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2012 My older kids always want to fish everywhere we go lately. Does anyone know if any of the Alaskan ports (Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway) have any places where kids can fish for small fry like trout or other species you can readily catch with light tackle? I'm not interested in chartering any major expeditions or going for anything big, just something simple and within walking distance. I could have sworn I saw some kids fishing for trout near the Ketchikan fish hatchery. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks. We are cruising in 3 weeks. Rare karatemom2 Posted June 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2012 In Ketchikan during the salmon run you can rent poles and fish right off the Creek Street bridge. However, if you are leaving in three weeks you might be a little ahead of the salmon run.
bralli Posted June 5, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted June 5, 2012 I was watching my videos from my last Alaskan trip. Here is a video taken at the City Park right by the Ketchikan hatchery showing a boy catching a small trout in the creek there: So that answers my own question. :)
