Just received an email from my sister who is on the Golden. Seems they encountered bad weather and will be in on Monday 7:30 am--not Sunday. No rogue wave, but still a delay. Bright side--an extra day!!!

Anyone else hear anything

Live from the Golden! Yes we are delayed a full day here at sea. Very rough seas, winds of Force 11 and 20ft swells as of early this morning. They did however give us free internet! Captain Nash has been circling at about 5 knots all day riding out the storm. We are thinking he just doesn't want to repeat the Dawn! Even though it's an extra day of vacation, I think most of us just want to set foot on land again. The crew didn't really prepare the gift shops, lots of crystal and Lladro's broken on the floor, not to mention the alcohol in the other gift shop. Heard one rumor that some tables on the aft terrace shattered. Basically we are not allowed outside and the rough seas are not easy to deal with. On the bright side we are seeing the comedian "Sarge" again tonight, he had a great show the first time earlier in the week. Let's see what they have in store for tomorrow. OK time to sign out.

Hi,

We were originally scheduled to leave NYC on May 8th for a Transatlantic Cruise on Golden Princess, ending our 14-day trip in Southhampton, England on May 22. However, since you encountered storm and strong winds, and are not arriving in NYC port on time, our May 8th cruise was delayed in leaving until May 9th. (Princess Cruiseline called me in NY, and were in the process of notifying the other 2,000+ passengers on the cruise of the delayed leaving.) As others on our cruise intimated, our ship will probably miss our first port....Dublin...because the Golden will not be able to make up the lost time. What a mess!! How disappointing for all of us who were eagerly awaiting the start of this cruise!! Oh well, passenger safety comes first!

Once again, thank you for sharing the info and clarifying the situation..

May you all return to NYC port safe and sound! And soon!!!

Judy

Sorry to hear about your unfornuate weather! But at least no one was hurt! Just out of curiousity how did the delay affect your airfare/hotel accomodations? How much is Princess responsible for your extra costs?
