We are booking excursions (if any are left!) for may - For Juneau, we can just take the bus to mendenhall and walk on the glacier. We know that the dog sled/helicopter ride is more cancelled in Juneau than Skagway. Based on your experience, would you also book a helicopter tour and glacier (or multiple glacier) walks or a dogsled/helicopter tour (more snow than ice we understand). Which have you done and loved? Thanks!!!! (tour company names appreciated!)

It's interesting - it seems that a lot of people have similar questions as me (20 or 30 have looked at these posts) but maybe they're in the wrong place or most of the people on here are first-time to alaska cruisers and the experienced folk (thanks, budget queen!) can't answer all of these same questions over and over or haven't done these excursions. I've read some of people's trip logs/diaries all over the internet but trust the advice on this board a lot more. Is there a place for people to list all of the excursions they did in Alaska maybe right when they get back and give reviews? I'll be happy to do that after our trip.

Thanks for advice!

For clairfication- you have NO glacier access from taking the shuttle bus to Mendenhall. A glacier helicopter landing is necessary.

ANY glacier helicopter landing is just excellent. Raves about them all. I give a big edge to the more ice. :) But I have been canceled upon twice for glacier dog sledding. :( The ice trekking with Northstar I think is also a top choice. :) Tough decisions indeed. There are plenty of tours that have been taken by posters. Myself, over 100. I do however, even though there can be flames, it is important to look at reviews of people who have actually taken the tours. There are posts of recommendations based on the booking process and they haven't gone yet, that I find may not offer the needed information on the tour???
