Anyone stayed at Renaissance Plantation Hotel-Fort Lauderdale

We are considering staying here the night before departure from our January 2006 Princess Cruise - part of a "Princess Package". Would appreciate any feedback about the hotel - location, amenities, closeness to Port, experience with Princess transfers from here to ship, etc....

The Renaissance in the suburb of Plantation is a very nice hotel, but it's best to stay there only if you have a rental car. It's about 15 minutes west of Port Everglades and 20-25 minutes from the areas most tourists want to see. It's in an office park alongside I-595, and there isn't anything within walking distance.

IMO a better choice would be the Renaissance on SE17th Street, right across from the entrance to Port Everglades, a block from the water taxi, and within easy walking distance of many many shops and restaurants... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR
