Cruise underbooked

I was just wondering if there has ever been a case of a cruise ship not sailing because it was not booked by enough passengers. We are cruising on the Triumph on 6/19/04 and it looks like it's not booking up. Is this normal or could it be because it leaves Father's Day weekend? Very excited because it's our first 7 day to the eastern caribbean and I really want to be able to go!!!!!!!

Just curious...how do you find out if it's booking up? I'd like to know about my ship as well.

Well, I've been checking availability through an online booking agency and it looks like the same amount of cabins are available that were when we booked. I know that some of the particular cabin numbers are anyway.

I think it is very very rare for a cruise ship company to cancel a scheduled cruise. What they do instead is cut prices to their wholesalers who then market the cabins at greatly reduced prices in various ways including online cruise sites. They would much prefer to fill the ship but if they can get 70-80% occupancy they can still make money. They just make a lot more money if they can fill the ship up.
