Which airport best for NY pre-cruise hotel?

We're booked into a mid-town Manhattan hotel for the night before our Oct 2005 cruise. In checking the flights out of Tampa, it seems that the cost is the same whether we fly into JFK or La Guardia. Which airport would be the most convenient, and what type of transportation would anyone recommend to get to the hotel? We're two adults (no kids) Thanks!

I always take a taxi, though there are buses which will drop you off at a midtown point.

Taxi from La Guardia is about the half the price ($25?) and on a meter. A taxi from Kennedy. (JFK).($45?) is a flat rate plus toll and tip.

Once you leave baggage claim area, look for taxi line. Do not go with the guys who ask you if you want a cab. NYC taxi drivers are not allowed to leave their cabs or solicit business. These guys are private drivers - some are legit and some are not. Don't get scammed.
