I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the metro stations in Barcelona have either elevators or escalators? I am travelling with a person where only stairs in the metro station would be a problem. Thanks

I'm not sure about escalators but some have lifts, if you visit the link below it shows which stations have lifts:

Although the metro system is not totally refurbished for accessibility, the vast majority of stations have already been adapted. Please follow this link to see which stations do provide accessible transport:

Thanks! Both of these sites are very helpful! It looks like we will be able to use the metro - it will be a lot more convenient than using taxis.

Mind if I ask what the situation is regarding this? I ask because the Barcelona Metro is notorious for pick-pocketing, and someone who is slower or handicapped in any way may be an easier target than an able-bodied person (but not always, and no offense intended of course!). Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Barcelona; we took several and felt safe and taken care of. No troubles with "crooked" cab drivers and the like.

 

Just a heads up; something to think about. :)

I didn't think about the pick pocketers targeting someone that moves a little slower due to knee problems. Thanks for bringing that up as something to consider.
