Barcelona Metro

I am travelling with a person where only stairs in the metro station would be a problem.

It looks like we will be able to use the metro - it will be a lot more convenient than using taxis.

Mind if I ask what the situation is regarding this? I ask because the Barcelona Metro is notorious for pick-pocketing, and someone who is slower or handicapped in any way may be an easier target than an able-bodied person (but not always, and no offense intended of course!). Taxis are cheap and plentiful in Barcelona; we took several and felt safe and taken care of. No troubles with "crooked" cab drivers and the like.

Just a heads up; something to think about. :)
