Kiwi Kruzer Posted October 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2012 Sunday 7th October. Just in from a blog on board. They have missed BOI today and are heading north to try and avoid heavy swells on the way to Sydney.. http://www.fifthwheelerboyz.blogspot.co.nz/ During the early evening of last night, our new Captain came through on the broadcast system to introduce himself and more importantly advise us of a deep low pressure system in the Tasman Sea. It is predicted that we would encounter this low pressure system during our sea day after the Bay of Islands and that there are 6 metre waves expected. Although the ship could handle this, it would slow us down considerably and therefore affect our arrival into Sydney. So the decision was made that we would not be visiting the Bay of Islands and we would navigate to a higher latitude to avoid the pressure system. This means that we now have three sea days before we get back to Sydney. It really feels like we’re going home now.
