Reef and Wreck Snorkel GC33 George Town, Grand Cayman

Has anyone ever done this excursion from Celebrity? Is it worth it???

We like to snorkel the wrecks too, the best one is the Antilla 2 in Aruba. In GC there is a fun wreck near the port, called the Gamma, a small freighter which is beached and easy to get to, which we did a few years ago for free. It's about 2/3 submerged, bow on the sand, stern underwater. Prop is still attached, a neat underwater shot, about 20 feet down. From the dock it's maybe a mile toward 7MB, and you enter behind the Wharf Restaurant. At the beach there is a nice quiet channel through the rocks where you swim to get to the wreck, it zig-zags around a bit, looks like it has been worked on by the tour people. There is an area at the entrance to the channel where people leave their belongings. There was only one other couple there when we were there, but the wreck is large enough that 20 snorkelers would not interfere with each other. It's a bit dangerous to go right onto the wreck, or near some parts that are sharp and rusty, especially if the waves are up.

At the time we were told the Ridgefield is another beached wreck, but we didn't find out where it was. And there are many other wrecks but they are all 20-50 feet deep, so harder to explore. One is the Russian fridge 356 at Cayman Brac, 100 yds from shore, bridge 30 feet deep, radar tower 15 feet deep. And the Cali is at the port, 100 yds from shore, 15-25 feet deep, but all busted up, only pieces of it left, which tours use.
