Luggage arrived

Way back in Oct 92, Crystal Harmony, Montreal Que., our luggage (and some 22 other people's luggage) went to the "bus barn" after the bus dropped us off at the ship.

Apparently, they failed to empty one of the bins under the bus. We got the bags the next day in Quebec City. Crystal was rather embarrassed over that, particularly when the ship's Concierge got caught in a lie. Flowers and champagne were sent to all the affected parties, along with profuse apologies.

My story's not all that interesting, just indicative of Princess passenger service. We handed 5 bags over to the staff in Anchorage to put on the truck to the port in Whittier. A few hours later we boarded after riding the bus down after the truck - 4 of our bags were at our door, but the fifth little bag was lost. We waited until after dinner, then called a couple times but were told they were still sorting luggage.

The next morning, still no bag. We left a note for the steward and had breakfast (early), came back, no bag. Before lunch we headed to the passenger services desk to ask about it. "Is it one of those over there?" the woman asked - and sure enough, one of the three bags sitting in the hall across from the desk was ours. "We have a lot of people with your last name," she said. "Are they all in E612?" I asked, showing her the Princess embarkation tag still attached and the stateroom clearly marked, as it had been on all our other luggage. She was apologetic, but seemed to laugh it off. We were miffed - there were only 3 bags (the other two matched each other and a note attached read "Name not on passenger list". Scary). Couldn't have been that hard or taken that long for someone to double check the information on the bag, esp. considering we'd asked about it several times!

On our Alaska cruise...we flew from Denver to Vancouver. Our luggage went to San Francisco and stayed there until we got back to Denver. This had nothing at all to do with Princess; it was totally the airline's fault. But each day, the Princess desk would contact us and update us on what they'd done to pin it down. It was really extraordinary, because we had already accepted the fact that we weren't ever going to see it on that particular cruise! Princess loaned us tuxes and shoes, and at every port we bought new clothes...which was really a lot of fun.
