Just Back from 3 Nt SOVEREIGN

Recommended Posts

Steve and Alisha, thank you for the advise on formal night. I think I'm going the tux route. You are so right about the photos. Hopefully we will get a good one picture.

Holly, Only 10 more days till we cruise. Thanks for the offer of the coupon book but we are past cruisers also. How did I pull this trip off... I wanted to do somthing for his 40th birthday and he was told me last year he didn't want a party. So we both love to cruise so I figured this would be perfect. So far it has worked perfectly. He doesn't even now my younger brother and his wife are joining us on the cruise. Other friends were going to come but both couples just had babies and they also have other small ones. So it is just going to be the four of us. He does know I have something planned. I have told him we are going to Universal for the weekend and I had gotten reservations at Emeril's. We hardly ever go to Universal, we also go to Disney. It has been so much fun planning. I have already talked to his manager and gotten him off from work. I got the tickets sent to my work so he wouldn't get them in the home mail by chance. His birthday is next Wednesday, so I'm giving him four presents that will build up to the actual tickets. Then my brother and sister-in-law arrive Thursday. So he will find out about them that night. Then we leave Friday! I'm also excited because this is their first cruise! We will definitely be a lively bunch on the ship. I didn't book us a Jr. suite this trip. We are just in outside cabin on deck seven. I'll have to check the room number. I'm not too thrilled about deck seven. But we are never in the room that much. Lee and Karen are on deck eight. And we are doing late seating. It is going to be nice Friday morning to get up and drive only 15 minutes to the ship. This will be the first time we have ever left out of Port Canaveral.

Hi Alisha... thanks for sharing your pictures! We haven't been off the Sovereign a full week and we're already to go back. DH and I were thinking about taking my mom along on the cruise and though the Jr. suite would be more comfortable for 3. I was wondering if you thought 3 would be too tight in there? Also, is that a curtain to make a seperate "room" for the sofa bed?

Thanks!

Laura :D

My friend and I have late seating also,,, maybe we'll end up at the same table

Sounds like a great birthday.

Where are you staying that you only have a 15 minute drive to Port. I live in Orlando and it will take me a long agonizing hour or so to get there.

I know it will be a good time for all

I agree, I would leave today if I could !!!

No, I think 3 would be ok. We had our 3 yr old w/ us, and she had plenty of room to, uh, let's call it "explore", in our room !!;)

She is quite active.

Yes that is a heavy curtain, it will close off that small section of room where the sofa bed,( and the balcony) is from the rest of the room.

I never slept in the sofa bed, so I can't comment on comfort, but I can say that it is only about 5 ft long.

And the balcony has plenty of room for 3 adults. Although you may have to request a 3rd chair.?

LOL! That's a short sofa bed! Having a curtain for that section would be really nice for privacy, thanks for the info! One last question, was your bed two mattresses pushed together like in other staterooms (you know, the one with the uncomfortable ridge in the middle?)?

Yes, there was a slight ridge down the middle. I have heard that some people ask the steward to use some sort of "egg crate" type foam that they put on top of the mattresses, before the linens, to make it more comfy.

Doesn't hurt to ask...

One plus about the beds, our HUGE suitcases fit underneath the beds after we emptied them.

I haven't been on CC for a few days, but wanted to make a few more comments on this thread.

How neat Alisha that you and Donna ended up at the same table. I noticed a group of women in matching pink shirts and wondered if that was the group from our roll call. The white dress on formal night probably was a wedding dress. The CD commented that there were 10 honeymoom couples on board. There was also a couple that were married in NAssau that day. Poor things ended up in the Love and Marriage game and here whole family was there watching. I also never saw anything about a Quest show. Guess I'll have to wait until September on the Mariner.

Hello Susan:

Oh, yes, the Newlyweds on the Love & Marriage show.

That was hilarious.

You can imagine what kind of questions they ask, then the Groom was scared to answer a few, cuz her father was sitting right there.

We had a blast on cruise.

Just wish it would have been a little bit longer.....:p

Alisha,

As far as I can tell he still does not know. The excitement is about to kill me though! Now if I can just get the suitcase packed and back in the closet without him finding out.

Holly,

We live over in Melbourne, actually the north end of Melbourne. So we are closer to Cocoa Beach then we are to downtown Melbourne. We just hit A1A and drive up the coast to the port, Actually it probably takes 25 minutes for us to get there. 15 if traffic is flowing, haha. Like that ever happens in Florida. This time next week we will be there!!

for this thread! I will be going on the SOS on June 20th. (it feels like it will never get here!) I appreciate all the pictures and info. My DH and 2 DD's (5&6) are so excited too! I'm definitely going to watch TLC on Sunday, and thank you again!

I told him yesterday on his birthday. He was so surprised!! I had him totally convinced we were just going over to Universal Studios for the weekend. I had wrapped up five presents for him to open.

The first was a electronic craps game, deck of cards and some dice. (He loves the casino). Second was a bag fulll of cash for gambling. ( He said at this point he thought we were headed to Las Vegas. Third was our passports. Fourth was a very nice bottle of champagne with a card telling him he only gets better with time and would he sail away with me. And the final box was our tickets for the cruise! He is still in shock that I was able to pull it off. He still doesn't know my brother and sister-in-law are also coming. They are in town now and he finds that out tonight when he comes home. We are already to go! Let just hope the Tropical storm heads away from us but if it doesn't we will still have a great time! Thanks for all the advice on Sovereign! I can't wait!!
