I booked directly through celebrity so that should be a no-brainer.

I asked our TA today and she said they go out in batches over the course of a week or so.

I received e-docs yesterday, which are now printed and on the ready line to pack. Luggage tags are requested.

Re: Halloween... I don't think this is the big holiday we make it out to be in the USA; however, on 01-Nov it is All Souls Day, which is a big holiday. We may not really notice since we have prearranged travel to the port and will be on the ship for most of the day.

I know that Halloween is a much bigger deal in the U.S. than most countries but does anyone know if it's observed at all in Italy?

I was surprised when our italian friends told us Halloween was observed in Italy. with the rise of the internet and cable/satellite TV, the world is becoming more homogenous. All Saints Day is a legal holiday; like in North America, it's pretty much an excuse for a long weekend. All museums and stuff will be open.

That surprises me, too!

Maybe we'll see more than we bargained for on our food tour through the gayish Trastevere.

I googled Halloween in Italy and found quite a few links. It's all about creeping commercialism and the chance to sell costumes and candy. But that's nothing new. I was in Costco last week and the Christmas stuff was out! It was 90° outside, too. Anyway, there are four or so North American university campuses in Trastevere, including that of Waterloo University for you Canadians. With so many North American students in the area, who knows what we'll see.

the BIG question: have you started packing yet? ;-)

not yet. We're throwing a little wedding on Saturday and it's proved to be a little distracting. :p

A party for out of towners (40 of them!) on Friday, the wedding on Saturday, a brunch on Sunday and a bbq for stragglers.

Wishing you and Mike all the best! The Pony Express arrived this afternoon with our luggage tags. We leave for Rome one month from tomorrow!

Looking forward to meeting up with a lot of you in Rome and the rest on the Reflection. Time to start counting down the days. ;-)

I am a little jealous. You get your luggage tags by dogsled, Pony Express, Acela, Amtrak and various other means. We have to print ours, fold 9 times (or so) then staple or scotch-tape them around the handle. Clearly I am being discriminated! :-) Let alone eDocs. I tried to do the online check-in, but after the first page the website rejects my efforts with the message: "your country of citizenship is invalid". Has Germany finally been moved to the list of undesirable countries? Can I become Lithuanian real quick? Or Polish (that would be closer).

As for packing: This little Eastern Med cruise pushed itself into my schedule 10 days from now, so I guess I should at least start packing for that one.

Safe travels for everybody. Hope to meet some/all of you in November.

Herbert
