trish1c Posted May 24, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Inexpensive & NYC do not usually belong in the same sentence. You can get some deals (under $100 per night) across the river in NJ. Try some of the bidding sites. I've read other posters say they were happy w/ a Budget 6 motel or Holiday Inn in NYC. You might also check out the ports of call board; there's stuff about NYC in the USA section at the bottom. Bon Voyage. Trish
mirrajay Posted May 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2004 I have stayed in NYC many nights for under $100. There are some very nice hotels that have affordable rates. Last time I was in the city, I stayed at the Hotel 30 30 for $105 a night, but then I discovered Priceline works great for NYC - I put in 4 star, midtown, $80, and got a room at the Roosevelt Hotel for our pre cruise stay. There is also a Quality Inn in a great location right by a subway station that I have stayed at for $85 bucks a night. Its near Macy's but I dont remember exactly where. Definetly give Priceline a try! Carnival Victory, here I come! Guest Posted May 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2004 If you are driving down from the Thruway why not get something close to the city a few miles outside. There are loads of hotels available at the exits and the drive to the pier is not that much longer. Don
trish1c Posted May 25, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2004 After I posted, I found a site called www.tripadvisor.com It had lots of hotel / B&B info. I was suprised at how many NYC lodging venues were under $100. You need to know about the neighborhoods though & I'd read each review very carefully. OhioBeachBum Posted May 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Using Hotwire, I was able to book the Warwick Hotel for $114.00 per night. That was my first time using HotWire but it worked out well for me. You can only specify the area and the star level and won't know the name of the hotel until AFTER you pay for it. Good luck! DFritz Posted May 26, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 26, 2004 We used priceline and booked the Crowne Plaza Meadowlands in Secaucus, NJ. It's three star normally runs $150 to $200 per night and we paid $45 per night. It is located on the river and is only three miles from Manhattan. packerpatriot Posted June 25, 2004 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2004 I love New York City! Another great hotel that you can get for around 85$ or so a night on Priceline (select upper east side and 3 star plus) is the Franklin Hotel on the upper east side just a few blocks from the 86th & Lex subway stop so its close to everything too. Very nice rooms. Cristin
