Things to do NEAR fll airport?

Does anyone have suggestions on laid back stuff to do around FLL airport to kill time post-disembarkation? I booked a very excessive wait at the airport and am now regretting that. I'd planned to just use the airport lounge but feedback has been pretty mixed on that as a way to pass hours before our flight.

 

After searching the forums, I'd started to kick around either heading to the Sawgrass Mills mall or a hop to Ft. Lauderdale beach for some food and sun (more food & sun not really being needed after a week of cruising). We also want to stop by the air museum attached to the airport (but figure that's a 30-45 minute stop). We'll have probably 4-5 hours to kill Flight @ 5:30p, figure be at airport no later than 6 (will check bags curbside before heading out to do anything).

 

Any suggestions are appreciated. Cheap and close to airport are both ++

Did you look at post cruise excursions through the cruise line.

Yeah, on Ruby Princess, and there were few excursions that didn't sound that interesting and seemed a bit pricey.
