Thanks Andy, but sorry my question was about the Classic element only, not the upgrade (which I haven't purchased). The package doesn't show up on my Guest copy, though the TA said it's just taking a while.

Does the basic package always appear soon on that confirmation?

Hi The Big M,

The same thing applies to what I mentioned in my earlier post, on both the standard package and the premium upgrade. Thanks !

Sorry Christine, but I believe your TA is mistaken. Celebrity has stated in their FAQ, that the premium upgrade can be added onboard. We also had a report, from a member who upgraded on Connie this week, with no major issues, other than a wait at Guest Relations.

With that said, I continue to recommend purchasing the premium upgrade while the promotion is ongoing, just so that you know it's taken care of.

This is from the FAQ : http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1764876

Will Guests be able to upgrade to the premium package after the promotion ends ?

Yes, they can upgrade when they arrive on board, or any time during the cruise.

Will Guests be able to upgrade to the premium package onboard the ship ?

yes

Thanks Andy! I have let my TA know:p

Hi Andy,

Are there any rumors going around of which ship Celebrity might have deployed to the Canada/New England itinerary for 2014? I understand the books are suppose to open 3/7/13.

Bob

Hi Bob,

Unfortunately, I have no information about 2014/2015. Celebrity is always extremely tight-lipped about deployment. Unless something changes this time around, I doubt I will have any details to share, until the day of release. I'd be ecstatic if Celebrity gave us a "heads-up" this year, but I wouldn't bet on it :)

Does anyone know if you book with the 123 offer, if the price of the cruise drops will celebrity still give you the lower rate along with the offer or will they drop the offer if you take the lower rate? Just wondering because we have had substantial price drops in the past and I can't imagine they would still honor them both.

Can someone tell me if you get a classic drink package, but want a drink that is over $8.. do you just pay the difference of that drink?

I am planning on the premium package anyways, but Celebrity has this offer for classic package for 2 till 2/18.

Hi Max,

That is not allowable. If you feel that your beverage choices would primarily be above $8 per beverage, you should consider the premium upgrade.

Just wanted to make sure you realize you can take the classic package with the deal and then just pay the upgrade price to get the premium package.

Hi Tnhome,

According to the FAQ, as long as the price drop is a Five Star or Group X rate, and before final payment, you should be ok. Here's the information from Celebrity's FAQ : http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1764876

If the price drops before final payment, will Guests be eligible for the reduction, while retaining their 123 GO selection ?

Guests can maintain the offer if they keep any Five star or Group x rates, however, if they convert to another price program such as a senior or resident rate they will lose the offer.

What exactly is a Five star and/or Group x rate? How do I know if I have one?

I am just wondering when the prices drop after the 123 Go! promotion ends if I have one of these rates before I start my battle with X over the price reduction.

Thank you!!

The FiveStar rate is the basic rate for your cabin category, without any promotions or discounts. It is like the "rack rate" in hotels. The FiveStar rate may go up or down over the period prior to sailing, and it will still be listed as the Fivestar rate.

The Group X rate is the same thing, except you are booked within an established Group (something Travel Agents can offer.)

If a special promotion, such as Resident, or Senior, or Military becomes available, this special price will have a separate "price code". Other promotions, such as the 123-GO promotion, are based on paying the higher Fivestar rate, and then benefits are added by Celebrity to your cruise package.

If you receive a Booking Confirmation from Celebrity (either directly, or because it is forwarded to you by your travel agent), the top Reservation ID section will list the rate you have booked under "Promo Restrictions".

I understand that some travel agents do not forward the Celebrity Booking Confirmation to clients. In that case, you would have to phone your travel agent and confirm where you can find the "price code" on the booking confirmation that they send to you.

Every discounted price code offered by Celebrity has certain "terms and conditions" associated with it, which will govern whether any individual can take advantage of the promotion. You can ask Celebrity, or your Travel Agent. I find that Cruise Critic is a great source of detailed information, especially if you are receiving information from very reliable posters such as Larry Simon, or Gonzo70, etc., or djkretired. (There are others, but those are the names that spring to mind at the moment. ;))

I suspect that if you go for a price reduction after the 123go promo ends you won't have too much of an issue but you'll lose the 123promo benefits.

Hi Larry:

Last spring, I booked a September cruise on the Solstice at the FiveStar rate, as that was (and still is) the only price code that was available at the time. In January, I was able to add the 123-GO benefits to this cruise as it is still priced at the FiveStar rate.

This cruise ends in Ensenada (no one is happy about that), and my guess is that Celebrity is going to have to drop the prices in order to fill up the ship, as I think the price point is too high. I spoke with the specialists at Celebrity who were dealing with the 123-GO promotion (and who seemed very clear about how this promotion was to be applied) and they told me that if the FiveStar rate is reduced in the months to come (i.e. the basic cruise fare is repriced), then I can call in and get the discount, and still keep the 123 benefit. The code on my cruise will still read "FiveStar".

If, on the other hand, they apply a temporary special price code, such as Senior, or Resident, etc., and I decide to take advantage of the lower price, my "price code" will change, and I will lose the Classic Alcoholic Beverage Packages I selected under the 123-Go promotion.

Thank you for that information! I guess I will call my TA or X and ask them so I am aware of my options. I did not get the reservation info from X themselves, and the AAA one I received doesn't have a price code on it. Thanks again!

Thank you everyone, I appreciate your input!

Hi Larry,

I asked this question at the start of the promotion, and the FAQ states otherwise. As long as you are before Final Payment, and the reduced price is a Five Star or GroupX rate, you should be able to retain 123 GO. Of course, I cannot guarantee it, but that's what is stated in the FAQ.

Thank you for reposting it, Andy! Now to find out what rate I have...

I have a question, and please forgive me if it has been asked before.

If I chose the prepaid gratuities as one of my offers, and also chose Select Dining, how does that work? I am required to "pay up front" for those gratuities. The gratuities show up as a charge on my reservation. I am confused. Help, please!

Hi Yvonne,

We've had 1300+ posts, and over 90,000 views, and I believe that's the first time this question has been asked :). I'm confident that when all is said and done, things will even out... but I'm unaware of the mechanics of this.

Perhaps another member has experienced this situation, and will reply. If not, I will try to obtain an answer tomorrow. Stay Tuned !

I've booked with an online TA and they told me that they would charge me now and refund the gratuities after the cruise if I chose Select Dining. I opted to choose the early dining time and will try to change to Select when we board.

That is a great idea, sooper! I will inquire about it in the AM. Thank you for posting this. I love these boards!
