Fake Steve Carrel Posted January 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2013 Hey. Is it possible to have beach time without going to a resort? As in, are the beaches public? We are planning on winging it in Progresso and then going to a resort in Cozumel, Any recommendations? We are a group of 3 single guys a year out of University. Inthedark31 Posted January 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2013 We just got back on the 10th. We ended up at a resort because the "free" beach wasn't that great. I realize it is how the locals make their money but I just got tired of telling people no thank you. For most that was enough but there were a few we felt hounded by. If you do stay make sure you take plenty of small bills. I purchased a few items from the shops and they always wanted to give me change in pesos. The double decker bus is 5 bucks plus tips and gives you the overall lay of the land. We ended up at the Reef Club through Auto Progreso and had a great time. My youngest unfortunately had a little too much "fun" and paid for it later that day......by the way she didn't keep the purse she threw up in. cruisetexas Posted February 9, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2013 Autoprogreso doesn't go to the Reef Club anymore. They're using Technotel: http://www.booking.com/hotel/mx/technotel-beach.es.html?aid=307415 Haven't been there, but, may go on 2/27.
