Pros and Cons of using an Airline Consolidator

I am interested in flying Business Class between the West Coast and Auckland in February and returning to the United States from Osaka. In trying to use Holland America's custom air service, I am being told that they are not able to make me an offer until September or October. Given the fact that there are very few non-stops between the West Coast and Auckland, I am hesitant to wait that long for their offer. I am concerned that Business Class will be all taken by that time. Thus, I am thinking about trying to use a Consolidator.

Has anyone had any experience with any of these firms? And, if so, what has been your experience?

Any information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I think Bestfares is a consolidator, and I've used them once for myself inside the U.S., twice for previous air to Europe, and we're booked through them this October to Europe.

I like them, and they have a good email newsletter to let you know what's coming up.
