I'm with Paul in that I've never had a terrible meal on Oceania, although a very VERY few somewhat disappointing ones. But I've heard similar stories from others (granted, not too many) and so if Laraine thought they were terrible, we do have to accept her verdict.

Her stomach, her dinner!

And every kitchen can have its bad moments ...

On the whole, we've found Oceania's cuisine to be consistently superior to what we've had on other ships.

To each his own, as has often been said.

I remember on our last Renaissance cruise (yes, Ren is not O) we had dinner one night with a group of six. In that group was a German couple. We happened to order the roast chicken. She sent hers back as being too greasy. Mine was just fine.

So, was she wrong and I was right? Were we both wrong? Even though we ordered the same dish, served at the same time, was either one of us wrong?

When I go out to lunch with the ladies I golf with, some salt their food (some VERY heavily) automatically without even tasting it.

I cannot remember using a salt shaker on a cooked meal.

I used cracked pepper, and some hate pepper.

I am sure if you asked us to switch plates, we would both find each others inedible!

Would they "bad" or "awful"? Probably not at all, just not what we are used to.

I was not referring to whether I liked my meal or the taste or the seasoning.

Awful is not subjective -

Some examples

Tough meats in Polo NOT prepared as ordered - overcooked eg when medium rare requested

Cold potatoes and vegetables

That is AWFUL

Soggy pasta, cold cappuccino, refusal to serve bread until the order was taken (seriously) in Toscana -- AWFUL

It happens.

I'll be back on Nautica soon and I am hoping that Toscana is as fabulous as it was when I was on it in May and that they fixed Polo.
