Where did you stay post cruise in Amsterdam? We have 2 days post cruise in Sept and are still trying to figure out a decent hotel in a good location. Thanks!

Hi, we stayed at the Ibis Amsterdam Centre, right beside the Centraal Station which has tram station (looked like all the routes started from here) out the front and was about a 5 min walk from the port, , very convenient to everything, we only caught a tram once in 3 days, apart form that we walked everywhere. We thought it may have been noisy , as it was vitually on top of the train station, but we didnt hear anything.

The rooms were fine ( its only 3*, but was perfect for what we wanted)and breakfast was good, apart from breakfast we didnt eat there as there are so many restaurants within minutes of the hotel. We found Amsterdam to be very easy and safe to walk around both day and night.

We were there in summer, end of August, weatehr was fantastic, alot of people around but managed easliy to get into places. We didnt book tickets for Ann Frank House and the queue looked reasonably long when we got there, but I'm pretty sure it was only a 20 min wait and well worth it.

Value for money we found this hotel very good and extremely convenient for what we wanted. We had stayed at the Intercontinental in Budapest prior to the cruise and obviously this isnt the same standard, but was just as convenient and staff were really good.

We are leaning towards center city but have read that it is noisey by central station. Did you think that it was extremely noisey? I love NYC and enjoy staying in the heart of Times Square and never felt it was too noisey. Can't imagine that being near central station would be extremely noisey that it would disturb sleep.

Thanks so much for all your great info!

We didnt find it any noisier at all, sleeping was no problem. Actually there were less people and noise around this area than the main restaurant/bar areas, which were very loud and had loads of foot traffic.

We caught the train to London on our last morning and it was about a 2 min walk to the station, which was so easy with our luggage.
