newcruiser6 Posted May 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2004 I saw everyones advice on here about booking Godfrey and his tour sounded great. Unfortunately he is booked for my trip in two weeks. What are my other options for seeing St. Thomas. I would like to go to Sapphire Beach and mountaintop and to the downtown shopping area. Anyone know of any other ways to do all this? Thanks! richtersl Posted May 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Hmmm....you can perhaps try one of your ship's tours. I took one with the SS Norway that was similar to Godfrey's, except there was no beach trip included. If you're set on NOT using a ship's excursion, there was a post here about hiring a cab driver to give you a tour. Islander had given some good tips on how to do it. Zeno Posted May 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2004 When we were at St. Thomas we just told a mini-van driver that we wanted a bit of a tour and a beach drop-off. So we shared a van with a couple of other like minded people and we got a tour and were dropped at Coki Beach. (He was prepared to drop us at any of the 3 popular beaches (Magens, Coki or Sapphire). Beach pick-up to return to the ship was a bit extra OR you could just use one of the taxi drivers who hang around at the beach to return to the ship. The Islander Posted May 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2004 Any of the taxis would be willing to do this route; when you get off the ship just approach some of the drivers - there are always taxi drivers waiting at the dock - tell them you want a tour that includes Mountain Top, then a beach drop off and pick up and then drop off in Charlotte Amalie. Get their card so you can call them should you want to leave the beach early. --Islander For more information on the Virgin Islands visit http://www.VInow.com the best guide to St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Water Island. Tex_Jen Posted June 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2004 I can confirm Islander's comments. When we were in St. Thomas we were approached by a couple of taxis offering a similar trip to Godfrey's for the same price. Go and have fun! Jen Serenade of the Seas 4/04
Check out their vehicles before you take their tours. We booked with godfrey and he sent timothy tours to pick us up. Tim was great. While we were on the mountain overlook we heard a truck BARELY able to get up the steep grade. They stopped everyone got out, the tour guide gave them a 2 minute talk and they left truck smoking and trying to go up the mountain. Tims truck had no trouble at all and he was very informative we had a great tour.
MaryLS Posted September 3, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 3, 2004 Hi, I read several posts about Godfrey Renal in St. Thomas. We've booked the limo tour for $195 (2 Hours for 6 people) on Dec. 14. He responds quickly and is very patient. It took my money order almost 3 weeks to get to him due to the hurricanes. He seems like a nice guy.
