Marie213 Posted April 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I'd like to get to Southampton from Heathrow by train. Do either of these alternatives sound feasible? Or does anyone know of another way? I plan to take a Heathrow bus to either Feltham or Woking and then take the train to Southampton. We travel light, so luggage won't be a problem. Thanks, Marie213

Marie213 Posted April 18, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Thanks! That's a great site. I found a better route I think. I can just go into London Paddington. Ride the train to Reading and switch there to Southampton.
Globaliser Posted April 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2004 If you want to do it via Reading, you can also get the Railair bus direct from Heathrow to Reading - http://www.railair.com/. Do you necessarily want to do it by train? There is also a coach service from Heathrow central bus station to the central bus station in Southampton - see http://www.nationalexpress.com for details. Marie213 Posted April 19, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Thanks for the additional websites, Globaliser. We might try the railair bus to Reading. We really like traveling on the trains in Britain. I guess it's because it is a novelty for us. Here in Texas, everyone drives their own car. We like to relax and look out the window on the train, eat a bite, and move around a bit in the cars. We like having our luggage within our sight. And it's fun to watch/talk to the locals on the train!
Mattsudds Posted May 12, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2004 If you are going by train I would strongly advise you to get the Railair Coach to Woking which connects with trains to Southampton. All other routes will require further changes of train.

At 48 or 49 minutes, it's as fast as any Woking-Southampton train, and faster than most of those.
