Dream Review - 4/27

Do they not give out anymore sea sick meds at guest services? Sad the review's almost over. Great job!

They don't give them out at guest services any longer. I always get mine from the medical area on board (infirmary?). They charge a couple bucks for 2 pills.

I had read someone saying that they did not any longer prior to the trip, so I never even tried. I did see some for sale in the Fun Shops, but I thought I'd just wait it out to see how we did. Must have had enough still in my system from the rest of the trip, because I was fine. :)

Thanks for the kudos! I appreciate it! :D

How is you do in the casino? I am sure my DW and myself will find ourselves there often also and just curious how it was.:D

Not well most of the time. One night I won about $160 in a short period of time - but it was not long lasting, and I happily gave it right back to them!

A lady sat down next to me once and put in a couple of spins and won $250... that's the most I saw anyone win. They did have photos around showing all the "big" winners - not sure if they were from this paricular trip or not, but that was the implication.

I found that the slots where you could bet the max were better - so some of the fun ones I didn't play much as with 30 lines or so at a max bet can put you over $3-$4 per spin. But there are some $0.25 machines where the max is $0.75 and those seemed to be better. I was able to play for a while longer anyway.

You mentioned a lot of photographers. Can you tell me if you remember seeing an American Flag back drop? A few years ago, I had my oldest son wear his JROTC uniform (high school) to have a nice portrait made with the Flag back drop. Only to have him have an allergic reaction to the lobster....his eyes were swollen and red :(

The next night that back drop was gone. He has sense graduated and now my younger son will be cruising with us in October, his second year in JROTC...might be a good photo opportunity for him if available.

I was on this cruise and did cave tubing in Belize. I am platinum, so I had priority tendering, but it was still a bit of a process, but that's the way it is with tender ports - and getting back was worse, was on the last tender to the ship, and on the tender before that, someone actually jumped off the tender to swim to the remaining distance to the ship...so that added some wait times on the tender process. Cave tubing was ok, but since it's not the "rainy" season, the waters were really really calm. Myself and another person in my party had actually fallen asleep a couple of times because the water was soooooo slow :o

REALLY?! I was on one of the very last tenders out of Belize back to the ship and didn't see this either...crazy person!

I’ll probably get flamed for this next paragraph, but I have to say that the only thing that was not perfect was the other people around us! We deliberately chose chairs the farthest away from the water toys and kids as we could. We were one of only two ships in port that day, so the beach was not crowded, but a family with 3-4 small children decided to sit right next to us, and then play in the water directly in front of us – screaming and being really loud. It was hard to relax with that going on. Then after they moved to one of the beds farther back on the beach, a group of half-drunk 20somethings came and took their place. I know we all paid to be there, and I know I’m probably expecting too much; but I’m just one of those people that will never understand why people claim the space right next to someone else when there are lots of other places to go. (This goes for beaches, elevators, bathroom stalls, etc… it’s called personal space people!) ;)

No flaming from me!! I can't stand that either!!! Next time you are in Cozumel, give Nachi Cocum a try! SOOOO much more beach space between people. Also, they do not have all the blow up water toys, etc, so the number of kids is usually minimal. A little slice of paradise!

Sorry, I don't recall seeing that particular one... but if it was only out on the first night, we wouldn't have probably. We really only saw a couple on the 4th floor and went right in to dinner.

Hey! This us in your ocean shot at Mr. Sancho's. :)

Ha Ha! WOW! I have to clarify to the other readers that the people I was talking about being loud and obnoxious were not in any photos! LOL... these pics were taken almost right when we got there! ;)

It depends I think. We went to a children's home, rathern than a school, so they had said they needed other things, mostly food items. The schools may have a different need. Bodden Tours had sent us a confirmation email shortly before our trip that included a lot of detail about our trip, and it included a website that linked to the different places in need, and what types of things they were needing. It was on the familytravelnetwork dot com.

Thanks so much for that info!

Debarkation.

We got up around 7 AM I think, had ordered room service for some coffee and a couple bites rather than dragging all of our carry-ons up to the buffet to sit and wait on the Lido Deck. We went through the cabin to make sure we were not leaving anything behind, and double and triple checked the safe… and then when they called for zone disembarking, we left the room. We walked up the stairs to deck 3, and there was no line to speak of. We walked right off the ship. :( The only line we waited in was about a 10-15 minute line at customs. After the customs official verified that the girls were not smuggling Cuban cigars off the ship (LOL), we proceeded out of the building.

There was a shuttle waiting to take people to the Park ‘N Cruise lot, and they still had room for us. So we got on, and off we went. They dropped us off and we were on our way back to Orlando. We got back home around 9:30 AM.

Up Next… Random Thoughts…

Random Thoughts…

It was a great cruise. I am one of the people that think if you are not having fun on a cruise, then you are missing out. Vacations… heck… life is what you make of it. I always have fun when traveling. So there may be little issues here and there that are not perfect, but nothing is, so you just move on. :)

Overall, the food was very good… while I did not like some items, or liked some better than others, I can’t complain about the food… as the 8lbs I gained proves! Nobody is ever going to like EVERYTHING… but I get to try a lot of different things on cruises, and I enjoy that! Now it’s time to get back to the gym!

As I mentioned, we don’t really do many of the shows, but the ones we did go to were enjoyable, and we were glad we went. As far as Dancin’ in the Streets – if you are going to the early show, you might as well go during the bingo that precedes it. It gets kind of full during that, so it seemed like people trying to get a seat that weren’t there for bingo were having a harder time. Or if you come later, try the upper levels of the Encore Theater first. They filled up slower than the main level.

“The Smell” Ok, so, I’ve read people talking about “the smell” over and over on here. I think I have a different view on that. So, I smelled a smell on the ship periodically… in various places. My conclusion though, is that maybe it’s not the ship. With as much as people eat (my group included), isn’t it just possible that those of us smelling “the smell” are just in the wrong place at the wrong time?! ;) Just my take on a different possibility. Ha Ha!

Ship movement… The first and last night of the trip we felt the ship moving. It was quite noticeable, especially the last night. Maybe they have to go a lot faster on those two legs of the trip… and also there was some weather I think on the very last night. Otherwise, we didn’t really seem to notice too much movement. We also had a good cabin location for that… very low, and mid-ship.

We had a great time!

Couple more photos that I liked…

Enjoyed your review so much. We were on the Dream Western last October and had a great time. You will enjoy the Eastern Dream, too. We had so much fun in October on the Dream, we did the Eastern Iten. in March for Spring Break. Thanks for sharing. ;)
