falcon5travels Posted June 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2005 I am considering a 3 or 4 day Disney cruise out of Port Canveral, I was wondering, when it is in Nassau what is open on the ship? Is there anything to do, or do you really need to get off the ship? Thanks....
gizfish Posted June 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2005 Basically the only things that close in port are the stores and the casino. The pool is open as are the restaurants. There are also some activities planned but I do not remember what they are.

Worfiedoodles Posted June 21, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Are the kids' clubs open? I'm wondering if I can book a spa appointment and be assured of child care for my ds7.
jelbnl Posted June 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2005 Yep, the kids clubs are open 9AM - 12 midnight every day. They do open earlier when they dock earlier than 9AM in a port.

mom x4,grandma x4 Posted July 20, 2005 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2005 Howdy, You certainly dont have to get off the ship in Nassau. There will be plenty to do on board for everyone. Nassau is not my favorite port, it's kind of run down, however there are a couple of really good things to do there. The Pirate museum is great. The Pirate who greets you is a real character. Watch your rings and watces as he talks with you!!! I believe it was $12 per person adult. It's a large purple building, 2 blocks behind the straw markert, you cant miss it. easy to walk to in 5 or 10 minutes from the ship. The Atlantis tour was really good too. The Aquarium (dig) was really fun and after the tour you can go back through at a slower pace as many times as you want or just explore the hotel and casino. The kids loved the aquarium there. It is a short walk from the water taxi to the hotel. On the tour you do have a few outside steps where you would have to fold up or carry a stroller, so take a umbrella style if you have younger kids. We also enjoyed the horse drawn carriage ride through town. $10 per person and is about 25 minutes long. A little onthe noisy side due to traffic but we still enjoyed the narrated ride. The 2 hour historical tour with 2 forts, Queen Anne's staricase was really good. Geared more for adults, not younger kids, but very good. If you do ge toff be warned that there are people everywhere trying to sell you something or braid your hair, just look straight at them and say no thanks and NEVER slow down your pace or they will think they have a sale and are hard to get away from. But if you are firm and keep walking they will quickly approach someone else. My first trip it bothered me, but once I got use to their culture there I don't have any problems with it at all anymore.Have been 4 times to Nassau. mom x4,grandma x4
falcon5travels Posted July 23, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted July 23, 2005 Thanks for the info. I forgot how agressive the straw markets can be. I have finally booked for 9/22 sailing. :) And my t/a thinks we are pushing for time to go to Atlantis which is what everyone else seems to do. any opinions? I am ok with staying on the ship since we are only on it for 3 short days.
